Traditional plaster but with a thin, hard casing with tiny holes in the middle instead. The fine line between providing ventilation, and not fully exposing the wound.

The layer of air allows the wound to heal. The product provides protection without touching the wound. (The thin hard casing needs to be of tough material so that it stays convex under pressure.)

Nobody wants to stick a flat, sticky plaster on an open wound, making it worse than it is.
